Thread Recommendations: Camp Jacket

Our newest canvas set sail this week! Our adorable camp jacket, complete with the prettiest palette of fall hues! It’s an anytime stitch that is begging to be stitched up this fall with some apple cider in hand and a fire crackling. Lots of you ask me for recommended threads for canvases, so I figured I’d share with you what I used for mine!

I stitched mine up in all Silk & Ivory threads. I love Silk & Ivory for 13 count mesh. It is truly a go-to, versatile fiber that stitches like a dream and always leaves your projects looking perfect! This design is really anchored by the pretty warm-toned oranges. Tangerine is just a really pretty orange color that has a softness and pastel quality to it. Salsa is just perfectly named- it’s a red-orange shade that isn’t harsh but rather looks beautiful. Big Orange finishes off the hood and injects a little punch of color and contrast!

In addition to the threads listed, I outlined my design in Silk & Ivory White to make for easier finishing. I find stitching a border of 2 to 3 rows to be really helpful so that when the canvas is finished, there is enough edge to not lose any of the design. You could also square the design off into a square or rectangle, too- whichever look you prefer!

You can check out our camp jacket canvas here. It is available as a canvas only or you can get it kitted with fibers included. I think this is a great one to purchase as a kit because it has quite a few colors and some of them only require a strand or two. When you purchase one of our kits, we include what you need, plus a little extra, so you don’t have to purchase full skeins and you can save some money in the process!

Happy Stitching & Sailing!

Paige
