In-Studio Finishing
We are proud to be able to offer needlepoint finishing services for our customers local to Suffield, CT. Paige is an experienced finisher that has finished over 1,000 needlepoint pieces!
Our studio is able to finish the following needlepointed items: ornaments, hanging signs, tray inserts, magnets, bag charms, acrylic foot stand-ups, and 3D standups. Finishing must be dropped off at the studio by appointment only. Please email sailsandspools@gmail.com and we'd be happy to arrange a time!
Our current turnaround time is approximately 4 weeks, but times can fluctuate greatly. Needlepoint finishing received by September 30th will be finished in time for Christmas.

Please note that we do not accept shipped items for finishing. All finishing must be dropped off to our studio by appointment. Additionally, we do not offer pillow finishing or leather finishing.
Some additional finishing notes:
- I am happy to provide backing fabric, but you are welcome to bring backing fabric with your canvas if you have something specific in mind. Please make sure to send a large enough piece for the size of your canvas with a few inches of extra over-hang around all sides. An 8” by 8” swatch tends to work perfectly!
- I make all cording for finishing, but you are welcome to send your own fiber to be made into cording if you are looking for a specific color match. I highly recommend (and prefer!) DMC Embroidery Floss. This can be purchased very inexpensively from Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, or many local needlepoint shops and comes in a rainbow of colors. For standard sized ornaments, please send two skeins. For hanging hanging signs, please send at least 4 skeins (2 of each color).
- For irregularly shaped canvases, please add a minimum 3 stitch wide border around your canvas. Simplifying the shape of your canvas and smoothing out any sharp edges or intricate details will always result in a better finished product! If your ornament does not have sufficient rows around it or the shape has too many intricacies, I will require you to add stitches prior to finishing in order to give you the best finished result.
- Please make sure all of your threads and beads are secured well. Please double check your canvas for missed stitches. Once a canvas is finished, it is typically not possible to fix these things!
